The Classic Whiffenpoofs

The Classic Whiffenpoofs, alumni of Yale’s oldest small choral group, will perform at St. Thomas Church, Whitney Avenue in New Haven, at 8:00 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2025.  

Originating in 1909, the Whiffenpoofs continue to attract experienced singers who rehearse and perform together during their senior year.  The Classics, all of whom enjoyed that experience as seniors, meet for one long weekend each fall to recall the songs learned years before, enjoy one another’s company and share their music with others.  

In past years, the Classics have performed in Philadelphia, Washington DC, Cape Cod, Boston, and Fairfield County.  This year in New Haven, the sixteen singers are drawn from the 1962 Whiffs, the 2015 group, and several years in between, with ages spanning over fifty years.  This concert, free and open to all, will include a free-will offering to support the work of Music Haven.
