November Mory’s Gathering

Please join us again at our monthly social gathering at Louis’ Lounge at Mory’s on Wednesday, November 12, from 5:30-7:30 PM.

Join local Yale alumni, students, and community members for another Gathering at Mory’s, an evening of socializing, networking, and learning from our special guest, Fereshteh Bekhrad, about her long and colorful career as an architect, developer, and project manager in Connecticut and internationally.

Fereshteh Bekhrad has over fifty years of international experience in planning, design, development, financing, and management of major urban real estate projects.

In 1993, she founded Elmhurst, Inc., a design and development firm based in New Haven, Connecticut, where she has led the creation of several residential complexes—totaling more than seventy units—in downtown and Fair Haven. Her companies, Elmhurst, Inc. and River Front Development, are currently advancing an 80,000-square-foot mixed-use project along the Quinnipiac River shoreline, scheduled for completion within three years. Previously, as Executive Vice President and General Manager of York-Hannover Development Company—an international real estate and management corporation—Ms. Bekhrad oversaw projects exceeding fourteen million square feet of residential, commercial, hotel, resort, and mixed-use developments across North America, Europe, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. Earlier, as Director of Planning and Urban Design at AFFA, an international firm based in Iran and Greece, she helped plan three new towns for a combined three million residents in Tehran.

Her public-sector service includes work as Chief Land Use Planner and Project Director for the City of Bridgeport, Connecticut, where she guided downtown redevelopment policy, comprehensive revitalization planning, and CDBG program preparation.

Ms. Bekhrad holds MA degrees in Urban Design and Architecture from Washington University and in Architectural Engineering from Tehran University, along with a Certificate in Project Management from the Wharton School of Business. She has lectured internationally—including at the Library of Congress—on downtown revitalization, housing, and community planning.

A former faculty member at North Carolina State University and City College of New York, Ms. Bekhrad has been widely published and has chaired professional committees for both the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the American Planning Association (APA).

As usual, the first drink is compliments of the YCNH. Light hors d'oeuvres crafted by Mory's chef will be served as well.

Please register for free on EventBrite by November 8 so we can provide Mory’s with numbers.
